Jones House Community Center

In the early 1980s, the Town of Boone, North Carolina received the wonderful gift of the historic Jones House. This was made possible by the foresight of Mazie Jean Jones Levenson, daughter of Dr. John Walter Jones, and his wife Mattie Blackburn Jones who built the house in 1908. Conscious of the need to preserve the history of Boone, Mazie has provided Boone with many gifts wrapped up in one including a historic building, a community meeting space, galleries, and a visitor's center.

In honor of former Boone Mayor, Dr. Rennie Brantz, the property where the Jones House sits will now be known as "Brantz Park". Mayor Brantz can often be found at the Summer Concerts at the Jones House, he has been a frequent participant in the Jones House Thursday Night Jam Sessions and for  many years Mayor Brantz served on the Jones House Advisory Board. This is to honor Dr. Brantz's love for Boone, the Jones House, and mountain music.
