This employee performs intermediate protective service work in driving fire apparatus, the operation of pumps and fire suppression and fire prevention inspections; does related work as required. Work is often performed under emergency conditions and frequently involves considerable personal hazard. Work is performed under regular supervision. Supervision may be exercised over volunteer firefighters in the absence of a senior officer.
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and considerable firefighting experience.
Special Requirements
Possession of a Class B driver’s license valid in the State of North Carolina. Possession of Level II Firefighter, Driver Operator Pumps, Level I Fire Inspector and EMT certificates. All certifications shall be recognized by the State of North Carolina. Must meet and maintain all department and state training and certification requirements for position.
Residency Requirements
Applicants shall reside in one of the following counties: Watauga, Avery, Ashe, Caldwell, Wilkes or Johnson County, TN.
Salary:
$48,646. Employee will serve a six-month probation.
