Major

Major Shane Robbins is a 26-year law enforcement veteran, 22 of those years with the Boone Police Department.  After graduating from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Shane joined the Boone Police Department in 1995 and has served as a patrol officer, field training officer, detective, sergeant, and lieutenant.  In 2020, Shane was promoted to Major of the Boone Police Department serving as the assistant chief.  In this role Shane oversees and works with all members of the department to deliver outstanding public safety services within our community.   Additionally, he serves as a member of the Town of Boone Incident Management Team.

Since 2000, Shane has served as a law enforcement instructor.  While he instructs in several different topical areas, school safety and active assailant response training are his focus.  Shane was also instrumental in developing and deploying the rescue taskforce concept for active assailant responses. RTF combines fire and police personnel into a team to deliver life-saving casualty care inside the incident perimeter.
