Evidence and Accountability Technician

Overview

The Evidence/Property Control function receives records and retains property held for evidence in criminal prosecutions, as well as found and recovered property. Criminal cases require special chain-of-custody handling to make sure everyone who handles the evidence is recorded for the court cases which may follow. This unit also retains lost and/or recovered property until the owner can claim the property. Property may normally be picked up Monday through Friday, 8 am until 4:30 pm but is recommended an appointment be made to do so. Property may be released to the owner of the record with proper identification. Acceptable Identification includes; driver's license, student ID, photo credit card, or state identification card.

Fingerprinting

Fingerprinting is available Monday through Friday; walk-ins are welcome from 8 am until 11  or 1 pm until 4. For your convenience, appointments can be made between the hours of 11 am until 1 pm. The charge is $10 payable by cash, check, or money order to "Town of Boone" (no debit or credit are accepted). If you require Livescan electronic fingerprinting and submission, this is available at the Watauga County Sheriff's Office.
