Administrative Services Unit

Overview

The Administrative Services Unit is responsible for many functions within the Boone Police Department including personnel, training, purchasing of supplies, uniforms and equipment, and fleet coordination.

A key component of the personnel function involves coordinating the hiring and some promotional processes for the department. The training function involves scheduling training for each officer. The department has an in-service training program in which each officer receives approximately 72 hours of in-service training per year in addition to specialized training.

The Administrative Services Unit is also responsible for ordering supplies, uniforms, or equipment for officers. The fleet coordination function consists of tracking maintenance, assignments, and vehicle replacement for a fleet of 42 patrol vehicles.
